Noosa Enduro 2008 Race Report
Neil, Ryan, Nic, Steve and Dmitri entered the 50k advanced course and by all accounts found the course tough but manageable. Neil had a decent crash, ripping his shirt and bashing his shoulder, Ryan helped poor maidens with broken chains, Dmitri wondered what the fuss was about and Nic and Steve finished well.
A super early start before dawn saw the start of the 100km race, just Simon and Pete Stephens taking part in that one on behalf of ATP. The first 50k seemed easy enough though Pete's chain kept snapping, eventually forcing him out of the race like many other competitors. Simon nearly followed him with another spectacular crash into a barbed wire fence and a new collection of scars.
The second 50k was fairly cut up and then the rain came. Lots of sliding down hills that we were meant to be going up, lots of crashing down hills to the amusement of the marshalls.
Well done to all our members who took on this formidable challenge. Regular racers say this year was the hardest with times being an hour slower than last year, so good work everyone!
Many thanks to the girls and Georgie for hanging around and taking photos in the miserable weather. Hopefully we will be able to take photos of you in the next race!
Excellent results from first-time racers Neil and Dmitri, plenty more racing to come for you two boys!
