King of the Mountain Race Report July 27th 2008

Started the day at 6.30 am with a 5km TT( time trial) all flat, cold again but no wind. Won that one again easily as there were not many competitors. 18 mins 22 secs – slowly getting faster. Jumped straight into the car and sped out to Pomona for King of the Mountain 10km fun run as a cool down.

Still bloody cold! Started just before 8am run a couple of loops of the square and then set off out of town next to the train tracks. Hit the loop, came around and I can tell you by this stage I’m really not liking the fact that it has all been stinking hills. Came back through town and up over the back, up and down more stinking hills, hit the turn around and then off through the tracks which brought back fond memories of the Noosa Enduro a couple of weeks before. Up and down some more stinking hills in the track and then back into town for the finish. Came 5th overall, 3rd in age division – 21 – 39’s. Not bad I suppose for an old man that smashed 5km just before. By Dmitri Simons
