Well done to all our members for a great turn out again - another bunch of medals to add to the collection!

Tre-X Off-Road Triathlon November 30th 2008

We came…they saw…we conquered...again!!

Another great effort by all team members in Race 2 of the Tre-X Offroad Triathlon series, returning with an impressive haul of medals. The Mount Cotton course was not a real problem for many of our experienced competitors, with plenty of technical elements (drop offs, rocks, sticks, steps and creeks).

Short course competitors swam a muddy 350m swim around the dam course and then onto 10km of hilly and very technical mountain biking, the final leg as always was an up and down 4km run course. The long course was a 600 metre swim, 15km bike and 6km run.

The medal presentations were fantastic again, special mentions must also be made as follows:

Simon – tackling the long course for the first time with the big boys

Georgie – tackling 10km of hard mountain biking in the heat

Brett – using every tactic to win, inlcuding a 5 minute accidental head start

Liz – winning her age group and putting herself in the lead for the overall series title

Dmitri - Taking the biggest fall down a set of steps and still beating Simon, in his first race

Will – maintaining first place all the way around until twisting his ankle in the last 1 km

Neil – drinking dam water like beer

Heidi – braving the alligators and sharks in the dam and producing a fine run

Michael – getting faster all the time, king of the down hill running

Justin – for taking out the over 15 years title and owning a BMW X5 at the same time

Everyone is looking forward to the next race in the Tre-X series on the Feb 1st 2009. Unfortunately I think Dmitri can't make the next one, shame. By Simon Richardson.
